How our table deposits system works
Every venue is different, so Sugarvine Tables gives you several ways to secure bookings. Apply payment rules across all reservations or tailor them around particular services, dates, times, party sizes, booking sources and events.
Take deposits at the point of booking
Choose either a fixed deposit or an amount per person, set entirely by your venue. The customer pays securely when making their reservation and the amount is recorded against their booking, ready for your team to deduct from the final bill.
Deposits can also be requested for bookings added manually. Send the customer a secure payment link or, when appropriate, allow an authorised team member to bypass the deposit requirement.
Hold card details at the point of booking
Alternatively, you can ask diners to provide card details without taking an immediate payment. The payment method is securely stored through Stripe and acts as a strong incentive for customers to honour or cancel their reservation.
If a diner fails to attend or cancels outside your agreed terms, an authorised user can choose whether to apply the no-show charge set by your venue.
Take payment in full at the point of booking
You can also collect full payment for an ordinary reservation, fixed-price package or special event. This is ideal for high-demand services and occasions such as Christmas Day, tasting menus or live entertainment.
Payment requirements can be applied specifically to the relevant booking or event, without affecting your venue’s usual reservation settings.
All three options help create greater commitment from diners. If plans change, authorised team members can also process eligible refunds through Sugarvine Tables.
